CMOC 3: Knowing the person and awareness of hearing communication needs

The care home ethos values relationship-building [context] and staff believe it is legitimate to devote time to relationship building of care staff with PLWDHL and their communication partners [context].

Strategies that are likely to be useful include promoting permissive leadership and awareness-raising training

Staff are more likely to be motivated to invest time in getting to know the PLWDHL [mechanism] resulting in them having personal knowledge of, and rapport with residents [outcome], and will have awareness leading to a person-centred response of challenging behaviours around unmet hearing-related communication needs [outcome].
