Confocal fluorescence imaging reveals the persistence of the donor mitochondria within the organs at 1 and 24 h after cardiac arrest and resuscitation. Transplanted mitochondria (red) were observed in the brain, kidney, and spleen at 1 and 24 h after cardiac arrest.
