Overall study design. GWAS summary statistics on PCOS and 4 obesity-related traits (adult BMI, childhood BMI, WHR, and WHRadjBMI) were retrieved. First, we quantified the genome-wide and local genetic correlation between PCOS and obesity-related traits. Next, we identified shared loci contributing to PCOS and obesity-related traits, and further, conducted tissue enrichment analysis, and constructed 99% credible sets of causal variants for these loci. Finally, we conducted a bidirectional Mendelian randomization analysis to infer causality between obesity-related traits and PCOS
