  1. Results are given per 1 SD increase. Cox proportional hazards models were adjusted for time-varying values of age, sex, living in a partnership, tertiles of equivalised income, smoking status, categories of body mass index, diabetes mellitus, physical activity, dyslipidaemia, high alcohol consumption, tooth brushing frequency and regular dental check-ups. In each case, one inflammation measure and one periodontitis measure were analysed conjointly
